Cupcake Wedding Cakes

A great trend is sweeping the wedding scene!  The transformation of big fancy wedding cakes to cute, casual cupcakes has been a fun one to watch.  While I’m more of a helpless romantic want wanted everything as formal as could be for my wedding, I have to admit that these cakes really draw me in.

Wedding cakes often start at about $200- and for good reason!  There is a LOT of work put into those things! Cupcake cakes can easily be created by someone who’s not a professional cake decorator.  There’s a lot less stress (After all, if you mess up on one, just toss it!) and the designs are often much simpler.  Even if you buy your cupcakes specially made, you can often find someone who will give them to you for $1.00 a cupcake.  Say you use 35-70 cupcakes for your cake and you’ve really got yourself a deal as far as wedding cakes are concerned!

Cupcake cakes are easier to transport (a very important point if you have to do this yourself!), easier to serve (no plates or forks needed!) and offer a lot of beautiful decorating options that can’t be found in your normal wedding cake.

That being said, they are often less formal and definitely less traditional than your typical wedding cake. In the end, while cupcake wedding cakes are fun and trendy- they would definitely only work for the right kind of wedding reception!
