I just spent half a day searching far and wide trying to find a pretty way to package our neighborhood Christmas gifts. We’re giving out homemade hot chocolate mix with homemade marshmallows. Pretty fun idea, if I may say so myself- but definitely something where packaging is everything! A homemade marshmallow given in a plastic sandwich bag is nothing compared to a star shaped marshmallow placed in a small cellophane bag, tied to the top of a small white package containing hot chocolate mix. My problem did not come in finding the cool packaging ideas, but rather finding some with the right price. I’m not about to package a $1 gift in a $5 box! That adds up way to fast!
I think weddings are a lot the same. So many of the little details add up so fast! Like giving out favors. Just the boxes alone get really expensive when you think about buying the hundreds that you need! (I know, I just priced them to see if they’d be worth it for our Christmas gifts!). That’s why I got so excited about these free downloads I just found.
Martha Stewart just introduced a new website specifically for weddings, www.marthastewartweddings.com/. Now, whatever you think of Martha Stewart, you’ve got to admit- her design staff is top notch! All of the ideas on her site are great. My favorite find of all has been these downloads. Included on her site are about 30 different FREE designs that you can save to your own computer (you only need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open them. It’s a free program that your computer most likely already has. If not, you can get it from Adobe.com). You can print as many of these great finds as you need for only the price of paper and ink! The down loads include designs for favors, menus, center pieces, and even a wedding brunch crossword puzzle to keep your guests busy as they wait for their food!
