Fresh and Modern Outdoor Reception
If you’re into the fresh and modern look but you’re thinking it’s just beyond your budget, then this post is for you! A simple, modern look can be easy to pull off with just a little planning.
While a modern wedding reception can be held in a wide variety of locations, I’d like to focus on the outdoor, or backyard reception idea. Mainly because, well- you don’t have to pay anyone to use your backyard for your wedding! And also because so many of these great, fresh ideas will work perfectly with an outdoor backdrop. Not to mention the fact that an outdoor setting can add enough tradition to a modern theme to allow your great Aunt Edna to think your wedding is beautiful even if ‘they just don’t plan weddings like they used to’. (it can also calm a tradition loving parent who is helping to plan your wedding enough to let you get a little more of your style into the plans!)
Because a pictures is worth a thousand words, I’ve added a lot! I’ll go through and point out some of my favorite parts- and where all you Utah brides can find the goods to make these wedding ideas your own.
White paper lanterns are an easy way to add a touch of modern elegance to your garden reception. You can get plain lanterns with no lights, battery powered lanterns (so they light up without the hassle of cords!) or a string of lanterns if you want to hang them all in the a row. They’re relatively cheap, and available through many wedding decor rental companies. If you’re looking into buying, check out www.bridalpeople.com, www.paperlanternstore.com, or Ikea.com.
I’m loving this idea! If your yard is large, mark off an area for some good, old fashions lawn games! Below are some J.Crew wedding dresses that would fit the look of your reception perfectly.
This plate of hors d’oeuvres look beautiful. No one would think they’re just eating some pre-made turkey roll-ups from Costco! The invitation featured below the roll-ups (with the wire wrapped around it) is also available through Costco. (who knew?!)
