Great Online Wedding Shopping
The summer I got married was crazy! I mean, it would have been crazy even without a wedding to plan. Among many other things- my husband (then fiance) had just started his first real job and I was commuting two hours a day to an internship with a company who, I would later find out, had illegally hired me (trying to avoid paying extra taxes) and would eventually put me in a huge legal mess. My mom had to undergo major surgery, making any planning help from her pretty much impossible. Oh, and both our fathers lost their jobs. sigh. Yep. It was a crazy summer.
After a long day at work, my fiance and I would get home, find something to eat and brace ourselves for an evening of wedding planning. Most nights we were just too tired to drive around searching for the perfect florist or reception center. Instead, we turned to the Internet. We laughed all summer long as one thing after another was checked off our ‘reception planning’ list from the comfort of our living rooms! There are so many great, online resources out there, but we had three that really helped.
ebay.com- I know, I know. You don’t want a used, smelling old wedding dress! Don’t turn away the idea so easily! There are literally thousands of items on ebay that are BRAND NEW, with the tags and in the boxes. Anything you want, really. Bridesmaid dresses, guestbooks, decorations, wedding gowns, tuxedos- you name it, it’s probably there. In fact, they even have a ‘wedding apparel and accessory’ category to search through! We found so many great deals here- including a tuxedo for my husband for just $70 and a hand bound, leather guestbook for just $30!
KSL.com Classifieds and Craigslist- These sites also have their very own wedding categories to look under for great wedding deals. While there are items available on these sites (such as wedding dresses etc) there is not quite the abundance that you find on ebay. Instead, I would suggest using these sites to find great wedding services. Lots of florists, dress makers, invitations designers, photographers and cake decorators work from home and can offer their services for a much lower price because they don’t have to deal with the cost of renting a store. They’re also a lot more likely to make you a custom package because they don’t have a boss telling them what can and can’t be done. Keep an eye out for great deals! If you don’t see one today, check back later in the week- new posts come up all the time!
