Kneaders Bakery Saves the Day
I’m a designer. As I planned my wedding I wanted to splurge on the visual things like my dress and the location. This meant everything else was on a tight budget, including the food. The last thing I wanted at my reception was another ‘cheap buffet’ consisting of store bought cookies, precut fruit trays and bowls of pretzels to fill in the gaps. Kneaders Bakery saved the day! Their amazing catering menu was available at a fantastic price. What started as a financial afterthought ended up being the star of the show. People would walk in and literally gasp in amazement at how beautiful the food looked. In fact, I STILL get people commenting on how great that food was to this day! – who gets to say that?
.
Here’s the scoop. Kneaders is a fantastic bakery creating amazing European breads and delicious, beautiful pastries. You can visit them in the morning for the BEST all-you-can-eat French toast you will ever have (it’s pretty much a cinnamon roll served with caramel sauce, fresh strawberries and cream) or for lunch for an amazing sandwich served on fresh baked bread and stuffed with enough goodness to fill you up for at least two meals. Lucky for us, their catering menu holds the same standards.
Our wedding menu consisted of a beautiful dessert buffet featuring miniature fruit tarts, chocolate mousse cups, tiny eclairs, creme puffs and cannolis. (pictures of our actual buffet are featured above)
They not only did an amazing job on our buffet- they created my dream of a wedding cake at a fantastic price! I have a lot of weird opinions about things and one of them is white frosted cakes. For some reason I just don’t like them. I know, it’s weird. It made finding a wedding cake that I liked a bit of a hassle. I did, however, find a picture of a beautiful cake in a cookbook. It wasn’t a wedding cake at all, but it was beautiful. I took it to Kneaders and explained what I wanted- white cake layered with cream cheese frosting, dripping gnache and fresh fruit poking out of the sides and stacked on top. As I finished I prepared myself of an out of this world, custom made cake type price. The girl smiled at me and said- “I think we could do that for about $190. What colors of fruit would you like? I’ll go ahead and go to the store to buy them specifically for you. Oh, and by the way- we’d like to take care of delivering it to your reception place for free to make sure it gets there in one piece.” It was like a dream come true!
If you’d like more information on getting this fantastic food for an even better price here’s what you need to know-
Kneaders is located mainly in Utah in these cities: Provo, Orem, Ft. Union, South Jordan, and Riverton.
They also have one store in Yuma Arizona.

where did you buy the displays for the food from kneaders? and the see threw bowls for the fruits.
The see through bowls were purchases at Zurcher’s- a discount party and wedding supply store with locations throughout utah and Idaho. They are actually plastic (so they were cheap!) but look just like glass! None of the guests could tell the difference!
Here’s a link to their website- http://www.zurchers.com/ where you can find what they carry and where they are located!
The silver stands were just borrowed from a sister. If you want to find some for yourself, I’d suggest looking at Gygi’s in Salt Lake City. It’s a restaurant supply store that’s open to the public and they have lots of great serving supplies for great prices. (if you’re too far from SLC, I’m sure any cooking store would have something you could use) Here’s the link for Gygi’s- http://www.gygi.com/
This is kind of random, but my name is Crista, and I made your wedding cake. I used to work for Kneaders and don’t anymore, and am kicking myself for not taking more pictures of my cakes, especially now since I’d like to start making them again. This was one of my favorite cakes, something outside the box and different. I remember I got to Cactus and Tropicals and realized I forgot my camera. I was wondering if you could email me a picture of it, so I can show it off. thanks!
