Affordable Utah Weddings

For those of you looking for a way to spruce up a backyard for a traditional wedding reception- this theme is an easy and romantic way to transform a patch of grass into an amazing location.

The great part of this theme is the fact that the majority of the decor is flowers.  If you have a beautiful flower garden in your yard then you’re all set!  If you’re yard isn’t already full of flowers visit the garden section of Walmart or Home Depot.  A lot of these stores have a few selections of plants that are large enough that you won’t have to buy hundreds of them, but cheap enough not to break the bank.    Or ask friends and relatives if you can borrow their potted plants for the weekend!

Here are a few of my favorite details-

The white garden screens would make the perfect backdrop for the cake or a reception line.  They can be found in the garden section of Target.com or Ikea.com.  Their current prices are cheaper than more rentals and would look beautiful in a garden or set up as a room divider (the wicker one from Ikea) after the wedding!

Finger Sandwiches.  When I think of a traditional garden reception I think tea party for grown ups.  Delicious and beautiful finger foods on tiered platters served with a cup of cold punch or warm fruit tea.  Second hand stores such as Salvation Army, Savers or Deseret Industries often have an entire self full of mismatched tea cups for only a few cents per glass.  Pick out cups with a common color scheme and you’re sure to have a beautiful, unique look to your party!  If you’re making your own food for the reception, check out entertaining.about.com for a list of great recipes for the perfect finger foods.

Not into drinking tea?  I love the look of the tea cup cupcakes (middle photo on the bottom row).  Just bake a bunch of cupcakes, stick them in a fun teacup and decorate to make the frosting look like a dollop of whipped cream on a nice toasty drink!
