Utah Museum of Natural History; SLC, Utah
Ok, so maybe you haven’t dreamed of having your wedding reception next to the bones of a dinosaur since you were little. I know this one is a little less traditional. That’s EXACTLY why I love it! I’ll tell you what, if I received three wedding invitations all for the same day-and I saw that one was going to be held at the Natural History Museum- well, let’s just say I know which one I’d go to!
The Utah Museum of Natural History is located in Salt Lake City. It allows you to rent out the ENTIRE museum after business hours for $1,400. Perhaps not the very cheapest, but when you consider the fact that you really won’t have to spend any money on decorations or ways to keep your guests entertained, it really could fit into a modest wedding budget. If it really is too much for you, the museum will also rent out individual rooms (including the Earth Science Hall, the Anthropology hall, the Dinosaur Discovery hall or the library) during normal business hours. The website doesn’t give official prices on each room, though one would naturally assume they would cost less to rent than the entire museum!
Rental prices include two security guards, tables and chairs for up to 75 guests (more seating is available for an extra rate) and custodial clean up. For an additional fee you can also have trained volunteers available to interpret exhibits and answer questions for all your guests as they explore the museum, audio/visual rental, and you can even let the museum set up the catering for you!
