A great wedding tradition that is just beginning to sneak it’s way into Utah tradition is that of the groom’s cake. The groom’s cake is a chance for the groom to express himself at the reception by designing his own cake to look exactly how he wants. Let’s be honest, most wedding receptions are put together according to the bride’s taste! Allowing the groom to have one thing all his own at his reception allows his personality to show along side the bride’s.
I recently attended a Utah reception with a groom’s cake made to look like a football. It was so fun to see a bit of the groom’s personality and it was certainly fun to eat! The ‘cake’ was really a giant Rice Krispie Treat which, when served, fit in perfectly to the fun atmosphere created by the couple- a live band played, cotton candy was served in the couple’s wedding colors- Rice Krispie treats fit right in!
